Yakuza 0
You have to ask to do a job, that’s the real training.
You have to ask to do a job, that’s the real training.
Looks like you need to do 2 trainings at the pier smashing manequins, then you can do 1 job, then 2 more training, 1 job, 2 training, 1 job, etc
Training is only available if you unlocked the ability slot next to the mastery ability in question.
For example for the third one, you will need to have the slot next to the third mastery ability unlocked.
For anyone who would have interrogations about how it works:
-First thing, you need to complete the two training courses Miss Tatsu sets for you.
-Then you need to have unlocked the skill which is linked to the the ? skill in beast mode. Each ? has a number under it, which correspond to when the skill will be unlocked. If it’s a 3, for exemple, it means you need to learn the 1 and 2 first.
-If you meet those two parameters, Miss Tatsu will offer you a job, said job will unlock a ? skill upon completion.
So, to sum it up, train your skill until you meet the requirement, do the 2 training courses, take the job.

Masters
Miss Tatsu
The master of the Beast Style, Miss Tatsu resides at the Pier in Tokyo, which you get to by taking a taxi. She’ll be there right after you meet her in Chapter 2 and learn the style. The idea behind Miss Tatsu’s training is that you’ll practice doing her work for her: basically muscling in on jerks with outstanding loans and wrecking both them and the place. This is done in two elements: training and jobs.
Training involves an «obstacle course» set up at the pier. The idea is that within a limited time, you have to destroy all mannequins and you have to earn a certain amount of money. To execute this, you’re encouraged to use the boxes strewn around the course. These boxes contain a certain amount of fake money, and breaking the box adds to your total for that course. You also earn money from smashing the mannequins, but it’s not as much as the boxes themselves will add up to, so the idea is to go around smashing the boxes against mannequins (press Light Attack near a box to automatically pick up and swing it). The training stops either at the time limit or when the last dummy has been destroyed. Training costs money to do but it has to be done in order to unlock the jobs.
Jobs are where you actually put your skills to the test. Tatsu will send you out to smash up a guy behind on his loan. Use the stuff around your target to rack up your money and drain the health of your foe and whoever he brought along. These are real fights, so be sure to prepare for them. Also, you can keep any money you earn during the rampage, so make it a priority to grab the most expensive looking thing and smash it against your target. Complete a job and you’ll earn a new skill.
Below are all the trainings and jobs in order:
Training #1 (Cost: 100,000, Target: 1 mil) — There are five mannequins, one 300,000 yen box in the back, and a bunch of 100,000 yen boxes everywhere.
Training #2 (Cost: 500,000, Target: 2 mil) — There are five normal mannequins and one gun mannequin. You have two 600,000 yen boxes you should prioritize, then the few 300,000 yen boxes, then the small ones. When you pick up a box, the gun mannequin will target you, so while holding a box, don’t forget you can Guard, which will absorb the shot.
Tetsuya the Gigolo — This is an easy assignment. Just smash him with any large object in the area and he’ll fold like a bad poker hand. Try to make it something pricey like the table or desks. You’ll learn the Guarded Weapon Charge after this.
Training #3 (Cost: 1 mil, Target: 2.5 mil) — There are four normal guys here. They’re at the corners and there’s also one handgun guy in the middle, but he’s behind a U-shaped barrier. Still, he needs to be your priority, so lope around to the center as best you can and smash him. Note that there’s a small red box in the area. That box holds 1 million, so definitely use that for smashing.
Training #4 (Cost: 1.5 mil, Target: 3 mil) — There are two guys with submachine guns that fire randomly to begin with, then another guy behind them. There are two more normal guys in the back behind the barriers, and, more importantly, a medium-sized red box with 2 million in it.
Domoto the Runaway — This guy has some help, who is ultimately more resilient than him. Use the office equipment to smash for good returns, as well as the table and chairs in front of the desk. You’ll learn Iron Fortitude as a reward.
Training #5 (Cost: 2 mil, Target: 3.5 mil) — There’s one pistol guy, one SMG guy, and two regulars. Focus on Mr. Pistol first since he targets you, then the SMG guy. Be sure to use the two red boxes in the back left corner for whomever.
Training #6 (Cost: 2.5 mil, Target: 4 mil) — Two gun guys, one SMG guy and two normals. Head up the right side to deal with the SMG guy since the left side is blocked, then work your way around to the gun guys, being sure to use the red boxes near them.
Scowling Gingoro — This guy runs a cosmetic outfit, so he’ll start throwing perfume at you which is slippery and you can fall down in. That said, he’s the only one to fight, so it’s actually pretty easy and you probably won’t get a lot of cash out of it. You’ll get Crushing Hammer as a reward.
Training #7 (Cost: 3 mil, Target: 5 mil) — Two SMG guys on either side, a handgun guy in the back left behind the partition, and a normal guy in the back. Your big boxes are in the middle, so careful going for them. You’ll need to break at least the two mil one and the three mil one.
Training #8 (Cost: 3.5 mil, Target: 6 mil) — An SMG guy in the middle, two handgun guys, and two regular guys in the corners. The red boxes are all around the edges.
Kinji the Antique Yakuza — This guy has a lotta cool stuff in his office to break, but if you smash a vase, he’ll go nuts, pop his Heat, and pull out a katana. He’ll cause more damage, but hey, it’s so much fun to break the vases! Also, maybe go to that Strongbox in the back and smash that over his head too. Just sayin’. You’ll get Essence of the Beast: Wall Pin for this.
Training #9 (Cost: 4 mil, Target: 8 mil) — There are two guys with handguns behind the barrier to the front and right, a regular guy to the left and back, and an SMG guy in the back. The red boxes mostly start near you, but try to use nothing but them to get as much as possible.
Training #10 (Cost: 4.5 mil, Target: 12 mil) — The final training pits you against a small maze. First, you’ll move out and attack two handgun guys in succession, then in the more open area are an SMG guy, a handgun, and two normals. Focus on every red box, because you’ll need to use them all. Don’t be afraid to let the guns destroy the boxes for you by blocking with them.
Hiroya the Debt King — First is a regular old fight against a dude. Beast on him (there’s no money to be had), then you’ll head back to the pier for the final match. Smash everything in the area on Hiroya’s dumb head. You’ll probably get quite a bit of money out of it. You’ll also get Essence of the Beast: Overrun.

Controls
PlayStation Xbox Control Move Cursor View Controls Exit Minigame Truly the finest moment in the Yakuza series, you can access the Japan Catfight Club in Chapter 6 after meeting Mr. Moneybags as part of the story. In this, you’ll place bets on the outcome of brawls between gorgeous ladies. The method of battle is simple. When the ladies engage, you’ll select between rock, paper, or scissors. Once the countdown is over, you shoot. Whoever wins the RPS gets a hit on their foe and drains their health. If you tie, then you have to mash the Confirm button rapidly in order to force a win out of it. Months of attempts on «ties» have proven that they’re a bit of a hustle. Sometimes, no matter how fast you tap, you’ll lose. It’s maybe about 40% of the time that you can win those.
As you can see once you start attacking, the attacks are ranked in strength, starting at white, then blue, green, red, and rainbow. The higher the attack, the more damage you do. Attacks can power up before the «shoot», or they can power up while mashing on a tie. It’s as random as your victories.
That’s it, really. Your completion goal for money can be met in one match if you bet enough on it. You can bet either on a single match, or a full tournament, and to cash out on a tournament, the fighter you bet on has to win all three matches.
That all being said, there’s a trophy involved with catfights. That trophy requires you to win ten tournaments. That’s not individual matches, mind you; it’s tournaments you have to win. So, here are a few tips to push your odds more towards winning:
- Read the ticker at the bottom of the screen before betting. If someone’s not feeling well or is otherwise not in good shape, don’t pick them for the long haul.
- If your opponent has a 1-star attack, just press on that advantage and you’ll come out ahead more often than not. For example, if your opponent has 1-star on Paper, just use Rock forever because at worst you’ll be hit for a relatively small amount on Paper if you lose.
- Go for the low odds fighters. There’s a reason they’re low. Jennifer tends to be a safe bet as she also hits really hard. I’ve also heard Momoko works pretty well. Pick whichever of these two is having a better day according to the ticker.
- Don’t rely on special skills activating. I’ve gone entire tournaments without seeing a single one.
- If you get a tie and you both start on white, don’t mash the button and just lose the tie. If you mash and they win, they’ll likely upgrade in colors, causing more damage to you. It’s not worth the risk.
- If you get a rainbow hit or your special skill does activate, make sure you mash Circle to get the best result out of it.
Everything else is just random chance, including moves hitting harder, and predicting what your opponent will pick. Just gotta get lucky.
Actually, I’ve received a note from one of my readers who suggests wearing gear that gives financial luck. They claim that their odds of winning improved drastically after they switched to accessories like the Beads of Good Fortune and the Head Honcho Scarf. I make no claim that this strategy works, but if you’re swimming in losses, anything’s worth a shot, right?
